I don't know if I'm late to the party but it seems that the chat in Gmail feature just went live for most of my Gmail accounts. Looks interesting.
Signing in today it asked if I wanted chat, ofcourse I said yes. Has to be said it is pretty cool, takes out the need for a messenger program. Anyone else got it and taken it for a spin? <-- I typed that without knowing about this thread, thanks to the mods for merging it. For all those who havnt got it yet, try this. Go to settings, change the language to English (US) (mine was UK) and then click save. Then logout and log back in again, worked for me. I'm wondering if its possible to have multiple chat sessions.
Hey did anyone notice the new Gmail design? I really like it, especially the small Online Chat on the left side! I bet it will be a pretty nice success!
I dont know why some peoples got the gmails latest chat option,But some peoples dont have this option till now.
Don't worry, it'll be added to your account soon. For someone using Google Talk it's pretty useless. Why would I chat using the gmail page when I've got the app. Anyway, it's a great way to get more people into Google Talk. I guess once people will be comfortable with it, they will download the GT app anyway EDIT: Ohh, and it works (shows up) only if you use http:// not https://
I got popup in my Gtalk if I wanted to activate this option but I didn't. Seems useless to me 'cause I barely use Gtalk. Happy with trillian.
I just used it their new light chat within gmail and I love it - nice and simple and integrated with my other gmail contacts.
I like it, it's very cool GMail has more different things, depending on how old the user is I guess. For example, I have the "delete" button, while other newer users don't have it yet, and they have to use the drop-down menu > move to deleted items.
It's not open to public yet, my friend got invited to beta test it. She loves it. Now we can even chat via GMail interface, how nice it is.
