http://www.jtrotta.com is a paid inclusion directory with no Adsense, sitewide links, category sponsors, or imported paid search feeds. This means that more of the directory's traffic and link popularity get passed on to the sites listed.

The payment system is also unique; submission is free and once your site is listed I will invoice you via PayPal (you have 7 days before the link auto expires). Once you pay the link never expires. Payment depends on how deep your listing is in the directory hierarchy. You pay more for a top level listing than a fourth level listing:

$39.90 for a top level category (e.g. Web directory - Travel)
    $29.90 for a 2nd second level (e.g. Web directory - Travel - Accommodations)
    $19.90 for a third level (e.g. Web directory - Travel - Accommodations - Asia)
    $9.90 for a 4th level (e.g. Web directory - Travel - Accommodations - Asia - Thailand)

From now until the end of March, after you pay for one listing you'll get another listing (of equal or lesser value) free. When you pay via PayPal write "digitalpoint" in the notes.

I'm still adding categories, so if you want to talk to me about finding an appropriate category for your site you can reply to this thread, PM me, or email me -

Glad you like it! I will switch to a new logo soon but it will be an upgrade at least in my eyes... By the way your site is at http://www.jtrotta.com/Internet/Web-design and I invoiced you via PayPal. Once you pay you get a free listing - that offer is good until March 31.

It's a nice directory, but you may struggle to get paid listings in such a saturated market.

Yeah, I thought it worked by allowing sites to be added for free until you are big and popular and then starting to charge.

I've been live about two weeks and have 100+ sites listed so I'm not sure the market is totally saturated. In fact there are only a handful of directories that take web pages (most take only web sites) and assuming a web page is fairly specific and would fit into a 4th level category 9.90 is quite inexpensive. The market here is potentially quite large.

And if I don't get many submissions the web directory will remain exclusive. I have no problem with that; there's no point in building a useless dmoz clone. I honestly don't know of any free directory that's actually useful for human surfers. Not that many paid ones are either, but mine will be.
