I've been working on this for a while and it's finally in public beta stage, check it out and let me know what you think! The concept is pretty simple: Take a selfie Upload your selfie Be in with the chance of winning £250 (or the equivalent in your local currency!) Refer a friend and the prize doubles £500! There's a real nice gallery for viewing the members selfies when you've signed up so it's worth checking that out. Lot's of jQuery and ajax and a lovely design! https://theselfielottery.com/ Hope to hear some good comments!
Well, it seems like a failure waiting to happen (the scheme, I mean, not the site - it looks good, mostly) - but please change the damn web-font for the text? It's more or less impossible to read on big or small screens, especially the b, p and d letters are mostly broken due to varying line-weights. Just use a regular font. Saves you load time, doesn't make a hell of a difference design-wise, and also saves you from loading a webfont for lots of text that can just as easily be displayed using Verdana, Sans-serif or derivates thereof.
Why the pink to purple color transitions? Those color transitions are good maybe for a fashion blog. That's not to say they don't work in your case, I just didn't expect your site to be hot pink / purple when I first opened it. Also, this is an interesting admission: "Right now, we don't make money from The Selfie Lottery. But over the next 12 months we'll introduce a small amount of advertising to fund the daily jackpot." The first thing I'd ask, what if that advertising doesn't work for you? Will it mean no money for the selfie lottery?
Not bad, just curious - how do you generate the funds for the jackpot payout? Does it cost to submit your selfie? I wonder if this would be banned in some countries.
Design is okay but I wonder why anyone would want to upload their selfie for £10 with a rubbish chance of winning? maybe you need to appeal to peoples vanity if your trying to get a high volume website?
