    Hi all,

I'm new here so please be gentle!

I run http://www.pocketsexclips.com for free. This is what happened when I tried to get some help for my efforts in creating sites...

Paypal had my accounts closed for what?

I also read through there T's & C's and no-where does it say about not accepting donations to help with a adult website... *Total Crap.*

Check my recent letter out to Paypal:

'I'm sorry but I can not believe you have done this. I had read through the terms but I couldn't find anywhere that I couldn't offer a donate button to help pay for hosting for my adult website www.pocketsexclips.com .

I'm sorry, I did not realise that it was against the rules. I have been working freely on the site for months and months and several other free sites (absolutely not pornographic) to which I wanted to use paypal for.

I put the donate button into my site because I am absolutely penny-less at this point in time and I thought perhaps a few people may donate a little towards my efforts to help me afford the hosting costs.

The £8 that was in the account was to cover this months hosting, now I have nothing as I cannot add the donate button to my other non-pornographic sites so I have no-hope of affording to continue supplying free services to the public.

I have removed all reference to paypal from my 'not allowed' site, but frankly it is absolutely heartbreaking that I cannot ask for a little help from companies like yours.

Please reinstate my account, I will be very careful in future to double check any rules with you, even though they do not appear to state anything about accepting donations for support with hosting etc for an adult website.
Please get back to me as soon as possible.
    Regards, Daniel.'

I might as well just bury my head in the fucking sand for the rest of time...
Again sorry for being negative but I have worked my ass of the last year on several free sites and those fu@kers have just bummed me, big time...

(Let's hope my next post is more positive!):)

    Laters,

    D.

If you have 'sex' in your email address, you most likely be found out. If you use an unassuming email address, you may be able to fly under the radar.

Yerh I get that about the t's&C's but directly I was taking donations for help with the hosting and generally keeping it alive, I wasn't taking payments or anything, to be honest it still is crap t's&c's they don't say I can't take a donation towards hosting to keep my sites alive... It's well out of order really... I'm sure you've got it right about the under radar business, I've seen loads of adult sites taking paypal through external donate pages. Perhaps I should have done this in the first place (and not had @pocketsexclips.com as the payee lol).

This happened a few months back but I just found this forum today and thought I'd share my experiences with Paypal.

I wrote to them about 5 times requesting that I'd made an honest mistake and please help me continue my businesses etc... But no joy.

I have to use my girlfriends account to do anything now with paypal, it's a right pain in the arse.

(I have definitely cheered up a bit since I wrote that tho, although I think they are real a-holes for doing it, so BLUNTLY. I was thinking perhaps I could try some type of regulating financial body like the FSA because it has so badly effected my other small businesses, maybe they would make paypal take another look at it and have some sympathy. dunno...?)

They can't word exactly to describe your description but their Terms applies to any funds they collect on your behalf and donations makes no difference in any case. The difference between a donation and a standard transaction is that a donation allows for a non-fixed amount.

Paypal isn't the only payment processor out there which do not want to associate with anything adult.

I do understand that, but like I said it was an honest mistake, and they completely closed my account with no warning or anything. It's just very harsh, especially as I had been a loyal customer for 5 years. If my bank treated me this way I'm sure I could've done something about it, and I would've done... Anyway thanks for your feedback.

Loyal or not, big account or not, personal or business, Paypal doesn't deal with adult web sites.

    Don't be mad at them.

    Take care

Some people can't take rejection very well.

Not everyone gets caught. But those that do, tend to regret it.

A written/email warning would have been fine: Yes? or No?

Well, they have zero tolerance for adult contents. I mean in the real world, if you breach the terms of the contracts, they don't give you a warning or anything because consequences have taken place. Just live with it.

Yep that is just snub-nosed pathetic management. - What else do you call not looking after your customers, especially loyal ones?
