You determine the modifications you want yourself!
If you think a cash system adds value to your forum, you can install a modification for that. Note that for phpBB3 there aren't as much modifications yet as for phpBB2 (you are currently using phpBB3).

For the kind of forum you have, you could consider some kind of reputation and revenue share system. :)

I think you should get your own domain and setup a clean forum with 2-3 categories. This way it won't look like it is empty..

You are probably starting with to many topics. I believe most people say you should start with no more than 6 broad topics; then you can grow as your members grow. This way you have a forum that looks more full.

    1. Get your own domain name. It will make you look WAY more professional...don't be afraid to pay a little upfront costs if you are really serious about something.

    2. Get a design...not a default design that looks like millions of other forums, this also adds to the professionalism.

    3. Start with only a few forums, increase and split/merge forums when needed...adding 10 forums with 2 posts just makes it look like a dead forum...most visitors will just view the site and leave...

    4. Go to google, or a phpbb webmaster help forum (via google) and ask them for recommendations on mods/hacks. Or search them all out yourself and see what you like and what you don't.

You need to start with little topics. Two or three. And then the members of the forum will probably ask for other forums as popularity grows! Hope this helps!
