Some of you may already be familiar with CheckW.com.

It is a useful tool with a short domain name that can be used anywhere.

    It features:

    • Online/Offline status indicator - check if any website or webpage is up and running, or down and out.
    • Load time checker - find out if a site is loading slowly or quickly, based on its network and server.
    • Redirector checker - finally, you don't have to be in the dark about those short URLs you increasingly see everywhere, including on Twitter.

You can use CheckW.com from anywhere, past a link to a friend or type it in from your browser.

Simply put the URL which you would like to find this info about after the trailing slash of CheckW.com, and it will find the info for you!

    For example: http://checkw.com/digitalpoint.com

You don't even have to trim the URL. You can paste the whole thing right in there:

    For example: http://checkw.com/http://google.com/

You can also go directly to http://checkw.com/ and paste the URL you want to check right in the box. Just like Google, the box is automatically focussed when you load the page, so you don't have to click on it!

Wouldn't it be nice to always be able to know if a site is really down, or if it's just you having problems connecting to it? To have the safety and security of knowing that the sites that people disguise with short URLs on Twitter and everywhere else, don't lead you to spam, trojan, virus or other kinds of inappropriate sites?

Well, now you can. With an easy to remember, and quick to type in name bringing you an amazing service:

    nice site...

Just a though: you may want to add an API and give users accounts to generate money from the service. free members can use the service say twice whereas paid member have unlimited calls?
    (just an idea)

    Thanks for the input.

We have been theorizing how to monetize this service if at all.

It is part of a line of websites, and we may be expanding with an API for integration with relevant services.

We definitely don't want to be limiting how many calls can be made by the public.. There may eventually be additional features (such as more information) available to people who for example, opt-in. Payment may not necessarily be a part of it.

    Thank you for your time.

Thank you. It's not ad supported at the moment, the point of it now (and the primary point, always) will be to provide its useful service in helping make the internet a better place.
