    Hi,

what is the cheapest hostiung provider for .CN domains?

i got 40 very good domains, each of them hosted at 29,95 EURO/YEAR at the moment, and i would like to transfer them to some cheaper hoster.

And one more question: where is the best place to sell .CN domains (they are great one/two word domains) ?

    best regards
    Surya

Do you mean domain name registration or hosting? The vast majority of hosting providers (in fact, all that I know of), do not charge any differently depending on the TLD and there a hundreds of places that could host 40 domains for a few dollars a month. One I use and recommend are HostMonster, HostGator and Servage.

    one more question:

until now i always registered a domain at some hoster and payed a yearly fee
for the domain, the domain was automaticly renewed for one more year
included in this fee, without me doing anything.

if i transfer them to hostgator or other hoster, do i only have to pay this 5,95 $ monthly fee for my 40 domains and not worry about yearly renewal of the domain name or do i have to pay some more fee?

cause then i could put 400 domains on it and only pay 5,95 $ monthly and keep them for years like that?

do the rules of the hoster allow adult sites too?

Well, if you are looking for hosting, I would suggest that you get a reseller's account or at least a hosting account which offers 40 or unlimited add-on names. As long as all the sites fits into the hosting space allocated, they do not really care which TLD you use.

As for the issue of Adult sites, you will need to check with each web host. Some allow them and some don't. Those that allow will only permit legal porn which means that you need to either own the video and images or either you have explicit permission to use them. You will also need to have a release from all the models featured on your website.

You could host all of them on a HostMonster account. I don't see where you mentioned that you have adult content but this last post mentions that you did. They do not allow adult content but HostGator does so long as the content does not violate USA laws. HostGator's Baby plan could host all of your domains. Best of luck sir.

moksha22 i think your mixing up registrars and hosting companies.

Domain Registrar - Places like godaddy, namecheap, moniker, they tend to specialise in the registering of domains.

Hosting - Places like Hostgator, dreamhost etc, they tend to speacialise in offering hosting services.

While most companies will combine the services, i think your actually referring to a registrar for .CN domains?

    thank you for your help.

    Ok, i will explain:

in january i registered 40 chinese domains for a very cheap price at a german provider: domain-provider.de
this very cheap price for the first year rises to 29,95 euro in the second year, if continue to keep the domain there.

now i would like to find a cheaper place to host the domains. they are all registered in january 2007.
if i transfer them to another hoster like hostgator, i gonna pay 7,95 dollar/month for all of them, right?

what about the registration of the domain? they are registered for 1 year, does it expire after that time?
    thats my question now.

if i move them to hostgator, cancel all contracts with domain-provider, who will
handle the renewal of the domains? or did i misunderstand the process?

Domain name and hosting are two separate issues and they do not need to be at the same place.

Usually domain name providers may offer below cost prices for the first year of registration to get people to start registering them and get them hooked. Then from the renewal from the second year onwards, if their customers decides to stay and renew then they can cover up their losses for the first year registration. It is a gamble they need to take in order to attract people to use the lesser known TLDs like what .cn and .info is doing.

After the first year is up, if you do not renew the domain names, they will be placed on hold and subsequently be de-registered. You are leasing or renting the domain name for the year and if you do not pay, it is no longer yours and the site which uses that domain name would no longer be accessible or active through that domain name.

Hostgator only handles the web site hosting part and they are in no way responsible for renewing your domain name for you. You can however transfer the domain names from the current german registrar to another registrar by paying for an additional year of registration in advance. You may or may not get the cheap price by doing that. I am not familiar with the .cn domain names so I am not sure who offers them.

Yes, you must separate between hosting and domain name.

Firstly, I don't know whether all these domain developed a site or not. I guess yes since i saw your #3 post, then you must find a host besides just transfer all these domain. Here is the instruction for you

IF It's domain name + site
    1. First a registrar
    2. Place an order on new registrar
    3. Request transfer, get auth code from current (old) registrar
    4. Follow instruction on email send to you by domain registrar
    5. Buy a hosting, setup as addon domain name, get NS
    6. Set you domain name point to hosting NS
    7. Done!

Note: By using this way you don't need to pay any fee to your current registrar but only new hosting / domain registrar. :)

    Hope this help.
