IMO templates are the way to go. You can get niche templates, and just customize them.

There are a lot of such kind of service provided online.
You just need to identify your own niche first and do some background research on the service provider to see which suits your needs best.

Use a wordpress or blogger blog, buy a domain name and redirect to your blog. I prefer blogger because there are lots of professional looking free templates, with tabs and everything. You should look online to find out how to make a static homepage-that will make your site look more professional. You can set up a site this way for under $10

There are different types of sites for this. Foe example:

http://www.boxedart.com - you can download a lot of templates for websites, but also things like twitter backgrounds, ebay templates, myspace layouts, newsletter templates, and whatever else.

http://www.built2go.com - they call these "turnkey websites" because they are php scripts with different templates so you can start different kinds of websites like classifieds sites, reviews sites, etc.

http://www.themestock.com - these are skins for programs like joomla, wordpress, oscommerce, etc, so if you use a 3rd party cms you can use their skins to change the design.

I used yola.com. You can use their free web template or purchase one that's like $25. I think you have to use their hosting, which is free, so don't see that there is a problem with that.

You can make a professional looking design using free templates, you don't need website creator software. Just find a template you like and edit accordingly.

I used weebly for a start because it is free and has nice templates. After a month I purchased a domain from godaddy which has a very reasonable price too.

if you have your content fully prepared, I can offer you $1/mo. web hosting on my own server (so far it's only dedicated to my website applications). Or we can maybe work out a deal for free web space. PM me with a link to your website.
