I was wondering who is the cheapest domain name registrar?

The cheapest I know is domainsarefree.com for $3.99 for the first year, then $8.99 to renew after the year. But is there any cheaper?

At that kind of prices, they are making a loss hoping that you would sign up with them the subsequent years.

Don't worry so much about cheapest, think about quality of service. I fell for the yahoo deal and Registerfly, and my ass STILL hurts...

So far, fabulous.com is the best, cheaper, top service, no BS.

Agreed... everybody goes to Yahoo thinking they are getting a bargain.. and then you end up in domain hell

Godaddy sucks also, any complaint and they hold up your domain for randsom and you have to pay hundreds of dollars to get it back.

I use Namecheap and couldn't be happier

i haven't used yahoo domains for myself. but for my friend, i did. i don't like the fact that you have to use that yahoo wallet thing. she sent me the money in paypal because i had a paypal credit card and they only accept cc's i think, so i ordered it for her and my cc info is stored on her yahoo account wallet. i just set it up to where she has to enter the whole cc card number when you're going to use it or make a transaction, so she won't think up of doing something dumb.

If you want the cheapest, check out the price comparison lists on Domparison

For what it's worth, Namecheap are my favourite registrar too - they offer a superb quality of service and at great prices.

I tried using Fabulous.com just now but once I'd put my domains in my cart, I couldn't figure out how to check out and buy them, or even find out the prices!! Can anyone help me out?

Let's be clear about something, people: the only companies who are truly to
be considered "registrars" are those listed and accredited by ICANN:

    http://icann.org/registrars/accredited-list.html

Anyone else is potentially a reseller. And resellers don't necessarily have the
same umph as their registrar partners do, especially if complex issues occur.

If you're expecting even adequate support from those who offer .com domain
names for less than $6 a year, you're likely expecting too much.

Publicdomainregistry's resellers and Namecheap are basically the best.
