Funny, I had a few little problems with GoDaddy but no problems at all with 1and1.

    Domainsite are good too.

Yes. I have about 5 domains with 1and1.com and they are pretty good with just leaving you alone. The Customer Support really isn't all this and that but they do have a 24 hour toll free number which I have used several times before. They are the cheapest that I have found and I have searched for a long time to find someone that can beat their prices.

Directi is good for low prices... if you don't need anything but registration. If you need extras they have a weird ala cart service to add on dns, email , forwarding etc. I use enom for 'full service' domains, and directi when I don't need the extras.

The cheapest I come across is still Yahoo but their support for domain purchaser is not as good as some other good ones like GoDaddy or NameCheap.

Personally I love NameCheap for its neat interface and fast respond. Mean while I love GoDaddy for its offers.

Big vote of NO on 1and1 service, I tried twice to register a domain with them and all I got was $12 in charges on the credit card. Didn't even get a single e-mail from then, nothing.

Luckily, at least they didn't sit on the domain, which I've heard some less reputable registers do.

Tried Yahoo, but for some reason they didn't allow me to just register the name, they went immediately to hosting options (a big no no in my book).

GoDaddy is not the cheapest but at least they are reliable enough.

Cheapest is not the best However,

1.)Domainsarefree.com $3.99 and 8.95 for renewal after 1st year! (Globat sister concern)
2.)domaincentral.com and get a reseller account for $6.50 domains. I have tried it decent service! (Directi interface)
A green rep if it was useful :D
