Hello. I was wondering if it is possible to either get a free or a cheaper listing in the Yahoo directory - ie. not the full £299/$299? Perhaps somebody around here is a moderator or something? PM me
I think you'll just refer scammers to this thread, I doubt any Yahoo editor would be browsing DP for such threads Regards, Meti
I'm almost positive I seen a guy a few weeks ago offering links on the yahoo directory for $80 or something like that. I'm just trying to get some decent traffic to my site, I just don't know how!
Which kind of web site do you have, what niche? Remember; you might be better off purchasing listings from web directory owners here at DP with high-traffic web directories, especially bidding directories. - Meti
WatchOut, our niche market is the home and garden market. We are a garden centre which has the following product ranges: Cane Furniture Garden Furniture Gazebos Conservatories Garden Buildings (Summerhouses, Greenhouses etc) Concrete Garages Canspa Spas Barbecues Pets (inc. Reptiles) Aquatics Gifts Garden Gift Vouchers Sport and Outdoor Leisure(Pool tables, trampolines, table top football etc) I have managed to get around 2700 backlinks in Google. Since MSN's 'links' feature is now back online, it seems to say i have in the region of 6000 links. However, the majority of these links have only came in the last 5 weeks or so - at the last PR update I only had about 350 links in yahoo. That got me from a PR2 to a PR3. Any tips? Thanks!
hum,, so you have been here before, right? is that your twin brother? http://forums.digitalpoint.com/member.php?u=76183
Well, technically, no. I've always posted as Spider-Man (note the hyphen) on more than just this board. I use £'s, not $'s - so that defeats the purpose of Spider Man's profile. I also don't own a web hosting company, and had never even heard of digital point in April 2007. Furthermore, by looking at that member's posts, it's evident I'm not 'Spider Man' - see my IP address, as this guy is blatantly using his own version of the US dictionary, whereas I use English. Oh, and I also don't do dodgy con-artist work like submit to StumbleUpon. Thanks for the accusation, anyway
Don't mind him, anyway, there are lots of high-traffic free web directories that may come to good use; you may also want to take a look at some bidding web directories. Furthermore, you may want to purchase links from web directories that target that niche. I think you would be better off this way, there is a list of web directories with high traffic being made as we speak by one of our respected users here at DP; loredan, may want to check it out - Meti
Even the old Spider Man did not own a web hosting company. Check the NS of his website, he uses Dreamhost for hosting.
Sorry, but the profile states: Occupation: I Own a WebHosting Company ! I also do not know what 'colvins' means or what it is, nor do I surf Google.com - as I'm in the UK, I use .co.uk - .com has no relevance to myself whatsoever. So, for the last time... 'Spider-Man' is evidently different to 'Spider Man' - look at other online computer-related forums which have members known as 'Spider-Man', I bet you'll also find they are an 18 year old student from Scotland, currently employed as web developer of cupargardencentre.co.uk. Hmm, I'm bored of attempting to make my point on this subject. Guaranteed an admin could easily check the IP's.
I read a thread a few months back about someone that was using some sort of semi-legit loophole to list folks for $50 a pop, didn't try it and probably would not risk it though.
See, a big 'hahaha - in your face' to all the sceptics of my post - jg123 just made my point that someone DID offer this service. Thanks!
Sounds like a scam. Yahoo isn't going to offer a directory listing for less. Most sites still get searches from Yahoo without paying to get into their directory. However, having a Yahoo directory listing may help your Google PR. I think having a listing in the Yahoo directory is more of a credibility factor for major corporations and sites. Way out of budget for small sites.
