hope i am posting this in the right place....i am an artist ( painter )...i have been toying with the idea of starting my own website, webpage ?...i do not have a clue how to go about this, or were to look for info on an afforable monthly fee etc for a website-webpage builder, thats straight forward for a newbie like myself,, i currently sell part time on ebay and have no problems with basic computer stuff, and descriptions, adding pictures etc that you need to do there, and have used paypal for 3 yrs as a payment form ... but as far as my own web page which i can direct local traffic/sell to as well as worldwide exposure for my artwork, i am pretty nervous about starting one , ...being on a tight budget, i cannot afford to pay a pro to do this for me ...any advice or info on getting started etc, would be greatly appreciated ....thanks in advance ....

Assuming you don't want to be involved in coding, I'll suggest you to buy a template and from there.
If a template is not what you're looking for, the best bet is hire an IT student from a "cheap" country, like India and ask for an easy site.
You may be able to get what you're looking for in a budget...

    To F1Nuts
To build a website you need first to know what do you want to put on it. Then what are the posibilities of web pages to express your ideas. Next you will have to find a tool to make those ideas a reality. The tool (the website builder that you are asking) comes at last and it is not difficult to find. Even the cheapest hosting places offer some kind of page builder, and also some free hosting companies. If you do not intend to become a Web designer, you could get along with the tools offered by your hosting company.
    Good luck.

Mambo CMS is good heaps of free templates out there or Drupal is another good
    and easy CMS to use.

Simply follow your nose and install. Upload some templates to the site and activate then.

You could have a fully functioning site within a few hours...

    What I'd do is
1, get your own domain, try godaddy
    2. get your own host, I quite like a small orange
These two steps put you in control of your site, and will cost about $35 a year
    3. Go to the OSWD and download a template specifically for photographs/art, such as this one

Play about with the template to get it how you like it. It may take you a little bit of time to set up (it's all a lot easier than you'd think), and you won't have any monthly fees.

Of course there are other domains/hosts/ and template designs out there so you may want to browse around until you find what you like. It might even be worth paying a few dollars for a template if it's just what you like.
    Have fun :)
