I'm getting ready to start buying some traffic for my site, and i'm wondering should I go for the cheapest traffic I can find, or google adwords, or any other PPC ad system. Any advice?

If you are going to pay for traffic I would advise going with Adwords. If you are going to pay for traffic you may as well recieve targeted traffic.

Cheapest traffic you can find? Have you tried Ebay?

I always see lots of people selling traffic to sites for cheap. Not sure what the quality is like....

The cost of traffic usually directly relates to the quality. Adwords is one of the only ways to get quality traffic. Most others are not worth the money. Despite being 100 times cheaper.

Untargetted traffic is a waste, whether paid or free. I agree with the general consensus of Adwords. Just make sure the site is good enough to bookmark!

I wonder How do you expect to get any sales or leads from untargeted traffic?

Ok, looks like targeted traffic is the way to go. Thats what I thought but I'v read a few things saying that any traffic is good (I guess they were spammers? Ebay traffic? neat, I didn't know people sold traffic there. I'm not surprised, but I never knew :)

Another form of cheap marketing has evolved over the last 3-4 months. You can now puchase pixels on websites for permanent placement of ads with links back to the advertisers site. One such site, http://www.milliondollarcouple.com was created by a young, married couple planning to travel the world. They are also offering money to bloggers if they reach their goal.

It really depends on the demographic you're going after and what type of site you have.

For example, if you are starting a politics forum, then (I don't have a politics forum so just guessing) maybe getting traffic from a site that has an older and more educated userbase is the way to go.

On the other hand, an online game typically does well from other sites that have predominately young males or focuses on humor/entertainment.

But, if you're selling an ebook on how to flip properties, then you need to target based on the specific topic with things like real estate investing forums or other advertising that lets you fine target (e.g. adwords).

We do a lot of online advertising and its usually for video game related sites and adbrite intermission, adwords, and a couple of really well traffic'ed entertainment sites all work great.

adwords or a PPC program is best if you want to buy traffic to help sell a product or get sign-ups. Buying bulk traffic never seemed to work for me since it was untargeted mabybe others had luck but not me :p

    Hi there

Traffic that is bought should come with the admonition buyer beware. Most are selling hits or page views.

Few will sell real human traffic. Especially converting. If they had those to sell they would just sell to them.. Would make sense yes??

So Adwords and Yahoo/Overture Ask are your best bet online. As well as someother ideas offline such as papering college campuses with your URL

Would prefer google Aswords, don't try sites like Targeted Visitors and so,
    they are fake!

If you want some cheap traffic, try www.pureuniquetrafic.com

This is one of my sites, it uses pop-under advertising, so it is lower quality than ppc but much better value for money.
I can get you 1000 unique visitors for $5
