i'd recommend you get a domain somewhere else, like godaddy, you don't want your host holding your domain hostage just in case something happens to the host.

i meant that if you ever cancelled your hosting account, the host may be reluctant to let your domain go, there has been many cases of that.

This is very true when dealing with the small hosts who offer a free domain or domains through them. With larger providers it's not really like that as holding the domains is not worth it to them and they're not going anywhere. The worst they'll do is after a year they'll ask you pay for the domain if you're switching.

Of course it might be just easier to pay $9/yr at namecheap for the domain then buy the hosting somewhere else using some sort of coupon. It probably all works out to the same sort of price in the end.

We can offer this for $19.40/year and not only cheap but at least trustworthy and stable (not for a few months!). Successfully in the business since 2005 and with only satisfied customers.

Hostagator is a stable one to use but cost a bit more... why dont you buy a domain from name.com and then buy a sperate host for it? Easier and saves you money in a way.
