I am thinking about a new business idea that would mean that i would be able to offer domains at a reduced rate but with so many sites like that out there such as godaddy, namecheap etc would the investment prove to be a waste of my cash?

I am confident that i would be able to beat the prices that the likes of godaddy charge for domains i.e they charge over $10 for a .com if you don't use a coupon code.

I would be able to beat that price easily by a couple of $ but would people use the site or prefer to stick with a site that they know?

How would i be best marketing the site?

Personally I don't like to take chances with my domains that I stick with GoDaddy or one of the other big names. It is not worth saving a couple of dollars a year to take a chance on an unknown.

    Just my thoughts.

We just had this discussion a few days ago. You have to put out a lot of cash ahead of time as a security bond with most top level *.tld registrars. Even at the $10 a year, there's not much profit. That's why they like pushing those addon services.

If you start your business, there will be chance for you although you'll face competiors such as godaddy、namecheap and others....I think your first goal is to promote
your company but not to gain profit. With cheaper price and better service, you'll gradually make your business big.Maybe this course is so tough.Never give up.There
can be miracles when you believe.A good goal and hard work will make you successful in the end.

If you have the capital then why not first become a private level reseller of some existing registrar. If you are doing good volume then may be you have to pay just 25 cent per domain extra to the registrar, that is very miniscule amount. For example at enom, the cost of domain for u will be $7.95 - You start selling it at say $8 to build the brand name.

Start it, test the water and if it works, slowly become registrar by urself.

Actually in domain business money is not in domain registration, but is in supported services.

I agree with nitin22, it can work out extremely well if you do it right. The supporting services will be where the real profit margins are at.

    Hi guys,

Have listened to your comments and decided that i am going to make a step into the market, playing closely to godaddy as a reseller to their company.

This will mean i will have all their services and support but i can offer the domains at a cheaper price than that of the original site due to having a lower buy rate.

I will inform you all of the site name once i have it running live so that you can purchase your domains at a lower rate knowing that godaddy are backing the site. :)

    Lol you speak the truth.

I have created the site and now need to get the word out there that the days of over priced domains is long gone! ;)
