It would. The worst institution in any country, is the central bank. The power to produce currency must remain the right of the people, not a secretive group of bankers.

So, you want to give him control of all the money in the country? Because the vote isn't for the people getting control, its him.

Yes. I trust him more than commercial bankers. He wants to stay in office for a long time, it is in his interest to manage the money properly.

Sure. He has no motive to destroy his own currency if he wants to stay in office.

If he is the "dictator" people make him out to be, why would he want to run a country that was economically weak?

It doesn't matter how you get into power, it’s what you do when your in power that gets you labeled a dictator. When you attack the press and take away their license to broadcast media because they have a different opinion from you then you become a dictator. When you only run the country you are a dictator.

There is a difference between what's in his interest and what he understands.

It's in his interest not to create food shortages and lines for basic staple foods like milk and chicken, but that is what happens when you put in place price controls.

It's not in his interest to see food production go down but that is what happens when you take land from farmers who have farmed their whole life and give it to people who lived in the city their whole life.

He doesn't understand the basic tents of economics and in 5 to 10 years that country will collapse maybe sooner if the price of oil comes down.

By your definition President John Adams was a dictator for using the Alien and Sedition Act against the press during the Quasi-War.

Or President Woodrow Wilson with the Sedition Act of 1918.

Or Lincoln for suspending Habeus Corpus during the Civil War.

Or FDR for putting Japanese, Italian and German Americans in internment camps, suspending habeus corpus because of their ethnic origins.

The term Dictator is frequently misused.

People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
