That is flachchat by tufat - I have it installed on my site. It probably the best $5 investment I ever made.

Version 5 of flashchat was released a few weeks ago, do not use it, use version 4. Version 5 has some bugs that still need to be worked out. And, its not compatible with certain chat modifications.

If you go with flashchat, look into this modification - http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=166834 That modification will embed your chat room into your forum, kinda like what that site you linked to did.

Then take a look at this modification - http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=166835 This modification puts a box on the bottom of your home page listing the members that are in your chat room.

This modification moves the "Who is Chatting" box to the top of your forum home page. So when people land on your home page, they will be able to see who is in the chat room.

The three modifications I posted are not compatible with version 5 of the chatroom. But its just a matter of time before version 5 becomes stable and the modifications are edited to work with it.

When I installed version 5, my site crashed and was down for 6 hours. Come to find out, it was one of the modifications I had installed. Once I removed the modification the site came back online. But come to find out, version 5 has some bugs, so I removed it and went back to version 4. It only took me about 7 hours to make a circle back to where I started from. And, I have not taken the time to reinstall the modifications I removed.

I have used version 4 of flashchat for about 10 months. The only real problem I have is sometimes members get disconnected and they have to log back in. Besides that everything works fine.

For small chat rooms 0-20 users flashchat works great!. As ~key~ said version 4 is the way to go right now. $5 is so dirt cheap you should buy two just to have a spare lol.

I agree...I am a fan of flashchat as well. I have used it for a few years.

I run version 4.7.12 currently since it seems to be the most stable.

Do you have a recommendation for over 20 users?

Chat rooms are database intensive. However many users you want to support will depend on your server specs.

I have a virtual private server with over 800 megs of memory. My server has no problem supporting 20+ members in the chat room.

I feel like my server is not strong enough. However, I would assume a dedicated server from Hostgator should eaisly be handling flashchat.

Needless to say, something does not make sense to me.

However, flashchat is a nice program. I am a fan....just wish I could get it working smoother!

I have Flashchat on all my sites and its a pretty cool chat system though a lot of users on a shared system is likely to set some flags off to be sure. The site you referenced is also using a plugin to embed flashchat as well which gives is a nice feel that it is part of the whole picture. Very nice presentation.
