    Hi all,

We currently run AddonChat as our charity website chatroom for people affected by Multiple Sclerosis on the Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre website - http://www.msrc.co.uk

This is coming up for renewal at the end of this month and I am wanting to review a range of chat room software packages to ensure we are using the best for the people who use the moderated and unmoderated chat sessions.

Therefore, can anyone recommend any Chat Room software/hosting packages that they have experience with, for myself to review and then other members of the charity staff to "play with" to see what we may wish to swap to. The software must be easy for users to use as many of the "particpants" may be suffering from cognitive impairment so we need to keep use as simple as possible.

    Thanks in advance

    squiffs :)

Here is a chat room script that has caught my eye in the past. I am going to use it on my upcoming health site. You can check it out here. They have a demo and everything so you can check it out fully before doing anything. Plus, it is only $5 to buy and you keep it forever. The chat is really nice looking with avatars, smilies, admin privileges, etc. However, if your chat is REALLY popular as in 20+ users at all times you will need a hefty hosting plan to go along with it.

No problem, hope it helps! The price is shockingly low for such a quality script, but instead of renewing fees you deal with hosting bandwidth. However, if people just chat every now and then..you can keep your current hosting with no problems.

Well i have my own chat server that i run myself..its been up for 3 years currently ive just got 3 little rooms on it mine kewlchat and one called malaysia and one called godinc..

id be happy to host your chat if you want.. free for a link here is how mine looks http://www.msn-chatting.com and if you want a room yours will be like this..

http://msn-chats.com/malaysia/ but with your desired name..

users dont have to download java and all you need to chat is to accept the msn chat controll active x.. msn chats closed now but i use their ocx.. for connecting via webchat to my server its free under the gpl so msn doesnt mind..

if your intersted or wana talk more about it pm me or email me at im setting a limit though to 10 rooms

you get a gold host password for owner moderators and a brown host pass or lesseer moderators.. and i can change server modes to allow or disallow private messages for users.. and also a list of filterd profanity words to if desired..

why is my service free? cause i got 16 mbps and 99% uptime i can have up to 1,200 concurent users and currently im lucky if i have 30 total in my 3 room combined lol.. so why not let others have their own chat ..

Ill let a few people do this for their sites but im selective i prefer non profit organizations and you have to be nice and no adult sites please...:)

p.s if soem oen had a bussiness site ot wanted a conference room help desk sort of thing we might could still work something out.. as well..:)
