I have been using DP for quite some time and it is great place for a webmaster or others who depend on IT for a living. Of late, the number of SPAMMERS have increased a lot and here are few suggestions to reduce the trouble. 1. When someone reports a SPAM posts and if mod authorizes it, the person marking it should get some credit which is publicly displayed and the person who does the SPAM should be shown with a number on how many times he is reported for SPAM (Accepted by mod) 2. When someone is permanently banned, all his posts should be deleted. The fact that SPAM posts are not usually deleted encourages them to SPAM the forums with new userids 3. If more than 5 people report a post as SPAM, the post should be auto hidden untill mod clears that count. 4. When a user is banned, a data can be created with all email ids, IM ids, paypal ids, websites used by him. When a new user registers and he uses any of these linked ids, mod should be auto alerted. 5. If some users are ignored by many others (Keep a count - say if ignored by more than 20), mod should be alerted to look at his posts and PMs. 6. I see profiles from few countries indulge in SPAM freely than few other countries. I have seen people abuse True country. (I found out while trying to pay someone in DP) I know that few of these may already exists in the system but implementing all these and more may help make DP more clean and clear from SPAMMERS. Hope these suggestions are helpful.
1. Sorry, not going to build such a system. 2. Spam posts *are* deleted. 3. vBulletin doesn't have such a mechanism... and to be honest, I don't think I've *ever* seen 5 people report the same thing, so... 4. We already have a similar system. 5. There is no one on the site that is ignored by 20 people... people ignore people when they don't like them, not because they spammed something. 6. Yep.
