Did you know that from today you might not get payed when someone clicks your ads? I live in Denmark. Today 12 of our biggest charity organizations (Amnesty, WWF etc...) is sending out more than 1.1 million emails to all their members (that's 20% of the danish population). This email will contain a software called AidOnline, which they urge you to install. If you install the program all ads on the internet will be swapped with charity ads. In other words: Next time someone clicks on an ad from facebook or YOUR OWN SITE, it is not you nor facebook who gets payed - it is the charity organizations. AidOnline is aiming to go worldwide with this. Of course this is good news for charity, but a bad thing for all of us in here. A lot of free services might have to charge money from now on, but other sites might lose their income completely (DP anyone?). This could potentially destroy a lot of good things about the internet. I don't know about you, but I think a law should be made against this. One could draw a parallel between this and stealing hard earned money. The charity organizations do not support charity, the ones who click the ads do not support charity - We support charity, although no one ever asked us if we wanted to donate money. The funny thing is that I am already donating money to Amnesty International myself and thinking of donating money to WSPA (World Society for the Protection of Animals) as well, but guess I will have to cancel it all to be able to pay the bills XD I really hope that this software will not get too popular. What's your opinion?
It's not a bad thing for people to want to support charities, but this is sort of thievery. Next thing you know they will be attempting to switch your affiliate links into being their own, but ON YOUR SITE!
Surely this is illegal. Basically this sounds like adware to me. I wonder how the antivirus companies will view this? I'll be outraged if they make an exception.
LOL. On the subject, I would think they would have to let webmasters to turn this off. Otherwise it could lead to legal action from websites. But each country is different, and they may allow it there.
