What should I charge for ppc advertising. Is it 15% monthly spend or a flat fee per month? Any help appreciated... Thanks...

Not sure what you mean. I usually just use places like adsense or adbrite so I dont have to make up an amount and it be to high.

I mean if I was managing companies entire Adwords accounts for them. For example if they spend £1000 in a month, I might charge £150 for that month. I'm not sure exactly what to charge though... Maybe a maintenance fee...

£1000 in a month isn't that much media spend. You won't make money if you only charge 15%. I'd recommend 15% with a minimum of £500/mo management fee. And when you start getting a pool of clients and can't take anymore, raise your prices.

If you are not offering anything other than bid management (i.e. no tracking, no consultancy, no niche keyword identification) I can't see a huge amount of value in what you propose, but I'll stand corrected if you are.

A client could use Auto Bid for free to manage their 20 keywords without it being too much of a headache.

I also prefer the percentage based way because we have an incentive to find more inventory for our clients, so they get more sales, so they spend more on the extra traffic, so we get paid more.

To me, managing a PPC account is more than bid management. It's keyword research, testing new ads, analyzing. Bid management does nothing to improve your campaign. So if you have a potential client like Janice, you have to make them understand that you don't do just bid management. That you will manage by optimizing the campaign with appropriate keywords and creating ads that get high click rates and lower cost. That's the value.

As I said in another forum, most managers I know charge a percentage of spend, usually 10-15%. If you are OK with that, then do it. I prefer a set amount per ad group. Always the same cost to client and if they spend only $50 per month, it's worth my time instead of getting just $5-7.

There are many other ways to charge clients. You don't have to be the same for all of them. Some large ones I charge an hourly fee (always the same number of hours per month no matter the size of a campaign). Others I offer a comprehensive analysis of the campaign, what to do to correct and they do it. Some just want me to do the research to get them started. It's good to be flexible to all, as long as your time and effort are properly compensated. Only you can decide what that is.
