One person I delt with on this forum only accepts payment in the form of an ebay gift certificate. I am not sure how it works but I know the customer purchases it with paypal and it is sent to you. He had me pay him like that because he said it prevented chargebacks. I am not quite sure how it does though.

    Nah.
Won't work with the kind of volume I need.
    All damage was self inflicted.
The fatherless person used a hot card. My own fault. Should have askd for photo ID.
As for the guy. he should have had a knock on the door by now and a few polite (i hope) people quitely take the keys and drive off in his new shining pride and joy. Serve the ossers right.
I doubt if his face matches that of his passprt though.

You could try switching to egold for big amounts since egold has no refund policy.

Also using moneybookers transactions are NOT reversible.

These could be as fake as you can ever think of, you know that. There isn't much protection other than selecting who to deal with. Especially on high volume transactions. Ignore people with no online history.

True, but the risk is lowered as if someone has simply stolen a credit card, chances are they aren't going to go get ID made up in that name just to go on a spending spree.

One could get really smart these days, sadly.
Photoshop is the keyword to getting whatever ID with a random name on it.
Whenever dealing with someone for the first time, do a research on his personality before accepting a deal with him...

That is true, but when you've stolen a credit card you know it's just a matter of time before it gets cancelled, so you want to try and spend as much as you possibly can before that. You're not normally going to waste time making fake ID.

I have the guys bank statements, passport copies loads of stuff.
Problem was he was quite plausible and paid with his partners card. Trouble was she had never heard of him!
He will go down for it. Was hardly the work of a mastermind

Did you trade on DP ? If you did catch hold of the guy.

Also, stop accepting CC payments coming to your paypal. They can charge back anytime in 60 days.

what about if you just transfer the amount to another paypal id (your family members or other trust worthy friends)?

do they still get the amount? (keeping the trading paypal account balance to zero?)

Best to let checks clear no matter what ID you have. As for lower chargeback payments, ikobo, moneybookers, and epassporte are good. However even that can be reversed if fraud is involved.

There is the mention about egold and moneybooker. Are they similar to paypal? So if a person use his/her credit card to purchase through egold or moneybooker, and later he/she decides that he is going to do a charge back on his/her credit card. What is going to happened? Egold and moneybooker is going to accept the loss themselves?

I don't think with egold you pay using your credit card, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
And egold is not quite similar to Paypal either.

ive been caught out 3/4 times with paypal now and lost thousands. i now refuse to use paypal to accept payments. they either pay me by credit card through a proper processor like worldpay, or they send a cheque or bank wire transfer. i refuse to be caught out again!
