Chargeback?

Hi, I sold a website (blog) to someone here, it was getting good traffic.

A few days after I sold it he opened a dispute with PayPal and said it wasn't getting the traffic described.

The reason it wasn't getting traffic was because he wasn't advertising it and he didn't post anymore content just a lot of ads.

I agreed out of my own good will to help him advertise, and give him free advertising to help him out.

I gave him a fair bit of advertising, some good advertising too, I got it from around 50 hits/day to 343 hits that day.

He never replied to my messages and didn't contact me at all, and after the site got from PR0 to PR2 with PR4 inner pages I stopped.

After about a week he sent me another message that he only got 14 views, I told him to do his own advertising as it was not my problem...

And now he is threatening me with a chargeback...

I didn't do anything wrong, it was his fault he was getting little traffic because he didn't advertise it and just filled it with ads...

    What can happen?

    Thanks.

Its his own mistake that he is not advertising . Any site which is new needs advertising . Tell him to buy links for his site with TNX and may be try Adwords and other Advertising options to get traffic . Once the traffic reaches the required stage then tell him to advertise more so that he might even rank higher in Serps

Well, if he does a chargeback then you are screwed. So the best thing to do is just keep on with him and as well as keep records of the things u doing for him and as well as email or chat logs. So when he does a complaint against paypal then your chances of him geting the money back will be SLIM.

with how paypal is if he filed a claim and closed it when you offered to advertise for him he will not be able to reopen it.

However if he paid from creditcard and not a valid paypal account he can have his credit card issuer chargeback and paypal caves in, in most cases as its a digital item.

sounds like maybe he is trying to blackmail you into more free advertising.
tell PayPal what he is doing, forward your communications with him to PayPal.

is this a deal that took place here at DP?
if so how about a user name or deal thread url.

hope he didn't use a cc.

I wont tell you his Username because I want to settle this matter, and if I tell everyone it might aggravate him.

    Thanks for all the advice!

I agree, I wouldn't post his username as it might antagonize him.

I'm sorry that this happened to you.

I think trying to not antagonize or aggravate the buyer is not the way to go.
I'm not saying that you should intentionally antagonize or aggravate him but you have to do what is necessary to keep money that is rightfully yours.

You help him with traffic and tried to get him on the right track. In my book you provided good customer service.

By giving in to someone's blackmailing behaviour you may never hear the end of it. Will it really be worth the money or aggravation in the long run? Probably not.

Get your website back, refund the buyer, and then sell your website to somone else.

    Get a lawyer.
Wright the buyer, describe how he has gained money from the site, how he has lowered the value from changing content that has turned off repeat business. Also mention you will be taking him to court for the losses you suffered.
Next time use a domain broker.
