Wow, that's cool! I'll quote myself and sorry to point it out, but then I gave the only suggestion that makes sense so far... I only wonder if the Ah have to be similar or if that just affects the charging time...
I don't think that there is any other method to charge your laptop battery,so better you go with the charger.
no, Ah does not matter. source voltage has to be around 10% higher than that of the laptop battery. my laptop needs 19.6V AC, better check the specs carefully before trying anything nasty - and please do not try to get some juice in the battery so that you can sell the lappie with a faulty power supply.
Can't say about the laptop batteries. may be a battery charger sold separately may charge the same...
Curious people curious mind. I am not going to do any experiment with my battery. I am happy to charge it through my charger.
There's not a really efficient way to do so. Your laptop runs off a battery and DC current. I mean, you slice another wire up, and make sure the voltage matches, and has the minimum amperage... Not a good idea to mess with different voltages with a computer or something of that sort. The motherboard can get fried.
Short answer... No. Don't bother trying to do anything mentioned here. You'll end up screwing up your laptop if you're unlucky... Juts wasting your time if you are lucky. I swear I don't know how people have the time to even start messing with these ideas, Just go and get a new battery, I know you said you have a unique situation, If you can't get a charger or whatever I'd call that a fucked situation and not worth looking at anymore. My suggestions: - Get a charger - Get another compatible battery - Take your Hard Drive out and use it in someone else's machine if you can't do the others? - Use someone else's machine if you need to just get online. Just leave it alone until you can do something sensible (Like getting a charger)...
The only real way to recharge a battery is a slow trickle charge, like the charge created by using a solar cooker. http://www.solarcookers.org/index.php The people in the photo are smiling because they have just recharged their village's laptop battery in time for the west coast feed of Game of Thrones.
