I have seven or eight different pages on my site. For each channel I have it setup using a URL. For example, channel one is http://www.site.com/index.html channel two is http://www.site.com/news.html and so on. I have it this way for all of my pages except one. The one that is different is the forum inline ads, I have them setup with actual channel code inserted into the javascript. My problem is, my channel clicks do not total my aggregate clicks. For instance, as an example, I could have 50 clicks today and my channel (even though they should monitor every page I have) would old add up to 32. Why in the world does this happen?
There are several possibilities. Your ads appear on pages which are not on your site. I do not suggest that someone is generous enough to put ads on his site with your account data, but your pages can be cached by Google and other search engines. Another situation where URL Channels do not work could be if you forgot some addresses in the definition of the channels. For example, maybe you defined http://www.example.com/index.html but you forgot http://www.example.com/ and http://example.com/. Jean-Luc
Interesting. But if I were to do http://www.example.com wouldn't that record all of the clicks on that domain? The reason I put http://www.example.com/index.html was becuase I want to know exactly how many ads are clicked on in that specific page. So, by what you are saying would people going to http://www.example.com not be tracked by my chan for http://www.example.com/index.html even though that is the page that they are at?
I had the same problem when i first started out I even contact them about it and told me it was from cache pages so I stop caring. They said aggregate stats are the report you should focus on.
