Changing whole site to something different....what to do!

I'm changing a WHOLE website which is my surname.org.uk and currently just has details of a rental property I own (of which I have a specific site for this) to be another property which I am selling.

I'll be doing a total redesign and spending money on Google Adwords to bring in a buyer.

The whole site is PR1, I know it's not much but for the old pages should I do a redirect 301 to a page saying this has moved and can now be found at w ww.specificsite.com or other?

    Thanks for any tips etc...

    Ian

I would just 301 redirect it to the new site rather than worry about telling people that the site has moved. They will know its moved when they get redirected to the new site anyway.

If your baclinks are to your home page, the PR will automatically pass down to the new page when the toolbar updates, so there is no need to do a 301 redirect for the individual pages imo since it is only a PR1 . If you have very much traffic to those pages, you should do a 301. A PR1 is very easy to obtain with a single link, and you're not going to be losing anything if you aren't worried about current traffic.

Thanks for that, I have no backlinks for the URL, as I mainly used it as my email system and the website was a spelling mistake of the 'purpose built site'

It gets little traffic, but does have 20 pages in Google

    Thank Ian
