I am sorry to say but that is a wrong move seeing that HostGator is an oversell and suspend or terminate your account for bullshit, If I could make a suggestion you should try SmurfSolutions because of our great uptime, speed, and reliability.

HostGator is pretty decent. If you're not going to have proxies, warez or adult sites I'd recommend HostICan; their tera host package is very decent and I've used it to run 40 websites with no problems whatsoever :)

Wow I don't know if it can get any lower than this. So you say hostgator is this and that then you suggest your "company" (which is down right now).

Now on topic Hostgator is a fine reputable company that is actually a registered business. The majority of people have no problem with them, but when you have half a million web sites hosted or whatever number it's at now you're bound to not please everyone.

Considering you advertise for SmurfSolutions, and sell unlimited accounts for $10 a year, i'd take your word with a grain of salt.

I've hosted many sites/forums/etc with hostgator, i have 10 customers there and have NEVER had a problem.

I wouldn't recommend HostGator as they are overpriced. I would recommend for a great 100% uptime and extremely fast hosting service that provides Resellers at very low prices -

www.resellerzoom.com I have been with them for over 6 months now. I have never even had 1minute of downtime, There support is extremely quick at helping and always have a good answer.

    Regards,
    Carsen K.

HostGator rocks ok if you guys say so. You are only saying that cause you haven't experienced any problems with them YET. If you choose HostGator I hope you enjoy it.

    Hello,

Basicly every host is "Overselling" either a little or alot.. Its different ways of overselling, and the most comon is to sell more Space and Bandwidth that you don't have.. And then you can also oversell by putting so many clients on one server that eventually it will crash if all the sites gets busy at the same time...

You can't put unlimited sites on a server, it will cause you issues soon enough.. Basicly, overselling space and bandwidth is a better option then putting 100s of clients on one server..

    Thanks,
    Freddy

Hmm. Host Gator has the worst support ever. They don't even know what's a domain. And when you contact them, you have to wait 2 years before they contact you back and account setup takes 1 or 2 days. Their plans are oversold. I mean 3000 GB (3 TB) on the smallest package? Oh and now they have unlimited, what a surprise.

This is entirely wrong. HG support is Excellent! Account setup takes about few hours or even less (if you contact them via Live Chat). And why every1 keeps talking about 'overselling"? Who is not overselling?

And do you know why they are overselling?? Because of people will go after plans such as "UNLIMITED Space" "UN metered bandwidth". Even thought they only use 1% of that, they will just want to take it for the sake of 'having' it!

How many % of space do you use anyway?? Even if they are overselling, I dont see anything wrong with that as long as the clients are happy!

I have about 40 blogs hosted in 1 of their shared account, using about 3 Gb of space and about 10 gb of bandwidth per month! Thats just more than enough for me!! If you have a big site...You should move to a Dedicated server!

I have had accounts with hostgator and found them to be a pretty decent host. They do oversell to a pretty high degree, but I never noticed a lag from my site when I had it with them. Their support was always fast and friendly.
