I changed my title tag and a bit of text to try to improve my SERP and went from page 19 in Google UK to page 29!!!!! Arghhhhhh!

Does this mean I put the wrong text in???

Shall I change it again now or wait a month!

    This is my site www.diamondfilms.co.uk

did you change any keywords in your title or the place in which they appear. this can have a negative impact on your rankings sometimes.

I changed my title tag from

Wedding Videos in High Definition by award winning company Diamond films

    to

    Wedding Videos by Diamond Films

So I just really shortened it a bit.

I prefer the first one. it's more descriptive and google like stuff that smacks the user in the face.

there may be some hidden algorythym that like to see "award winning", you never know!

I preferred the 1st. However, my competitor for "wedding video" has a title tag of this "Wedding Videos Direct & Purple Weddings"

I changed mine and went from page 19 up to page 29.

    Isn't it frustrating!

i like the 1st on better. Get some more links with varied anchor text. I checked and you have more with your domain name than with keywords.

You are doing the right thing by adding your link to the signatures here... Keep posting on this and other forums and you should get even better rankings then you even had before.

More descriptive titles are better, cutting out the other words will not do that much to focus Google on the words that are left.

I prefer longer titles, 5-6 words and focus the search engines on the particular words of phrases by the text I use for back links to the site.

Yes the long titles are better than the short ones , also if they include the keyword twice google loves them.

Makes no difference. The difference between page 19 and 29 is irrelevant.. either your site has no authority or google is not sure where to rank your site yet.

Make sure that that's the only thing that changed. If someone made a link to your site on a bad domain that could affect your standings as well. Also, Google changes their algorithm a lot, which could change your standings as well. You should either change it back now and see if it goes back to its original standing, or you could wait a while and see if it settles back around at 19, like before.

i think it is irrelevant from your title tag change. It might just be the normal shuffle. One of my sites had this before. From 8 to 28 in a day without any changes.
