changing the directory of addon domains

    Addon domains basically work by assigning a subdirectory to a domain. The thing I'm wondering is how much does the subdirectory affect rankings, if at all.

    I want move an addon domain to a new subdirectory but I don't want google or any of the search engines to restart the spidering, something which will result in the site losing it's 10,000 pages and number 1 rankings.

    If I do change the directory will it have any effect at all?
