I seem to remember something driving age and working on farms (will have to google that one to jog my memory) and I have heard that their are stricter laws placed on teen driving in some states, limiting total hours driving or how many people can be in a car, etc...

Farms are a different deal all together and you don't need a license as long as you are on the farm. You don't need a license on your own property.

I believe what you are thinking of though is called a hardship license. It is issued in special situations and can be issued to kids as young as 14.

I will say that's the real problem in US. People who don't live in the city are spreading too far out. they need to drive to anywhere you go

Living in NYC, i really don't need a car. Supermarket is on the next block and i can go anywhere by public transportation (taxi if in rush)

I live close enough to the store that I should walk their, but more for the exercise than the gas saving.

It should be mandatory to pass drivers ed for a 16 year old to get a license. Too many teens drive like they have like they are retarded. But to save gas I think the market will handle that when they can't afford to drive.

Why not ban driving altogether? Then you can save gas & cut down on pollution, accidents & insurance

Why don't then ban driving all together. That way you can save a lot more gas. Every one walking to jobs will make their health better too.:)

They need to find some new renewable energy sources like Hydrogen powered cars.

I hate the city. I am a country boy plain and simple. Nearest Wal Mart to me is a half hour drive. I could never walk to work. My work is a 40 mile drive one way on a good day.

In washington state we had to take a drivers ed class in school, I remember all the desks had steering wheels, brakes, etc... and we would watch shows like Blood on the highway. And I am seeing poeple already changing their driving habits.

I have done 80 miles one way before. You have to understand I normally never work in the same place. I do security for the movies and the set locations are always changing. The equipment locations are always changing as well.

how far do you live from the city. I have never go outside of NYC. Do you have any picture (or google map satellite pic) of the place you live?

I can't imagine life outside of the city.

here is where i used to live. It is extermely dense (i live on 34 floor of my apartment building). Car is a luxary there cause it is unnesscary (you can't find parking anyway). Everything is in walking distance

There are pro/con living in the city. I wouldn't give up the convenience for a quite life in suburb:D
