SSL have may some effect on SEO now because of Google's war over non http sites but it isn't going to last forever. And what do you mean buying SSl next time?

According to Google, they use about 200 different parameters when ranking. I am sure that such a trifle as a change of certificate will be in the thousandth place and will not be included in the list of two hundred parameters. But the level of certificate trust matters.

Changing from godaddy to another has no effect in SEO. But you can't switch to free ones such as letsencrypt or cloudflare.

Its not the fact that they have any effect in SEO but they are problematic and very hard to handle.

The website having SSL certificate will have a positive signal in SEO. Changing the SSL providers does not affect your current SEO.

No there will be no effect, You can change provider, But if you ask SSL create effect, then yes Google give priority to that domain which have SSL, But its not means you need to purchase from Godaddy or any other top company, You just need SSL, No need for top companies.
    Thanks

Google representatives have stated several times that having SSL certificate doesn't affect website's ranking or has a very minor effect. So I think if you change it to another one it will certainly not affect your rankings.

I have just bought a site wish 6,000 organic hits a month. Changing provider from godaddy to siteground and installing SSL (lets encrypt) has killed almost all organic traffick. Any thoughts on this?

If you already have an SSL certificate and I only wanted to change the SSL provider then it would not impact your site SEO.

Therein lies the issue I fear. There wasnt SSL installed when I took over, something I requested to be installed. Does this have an impact you think? And if so, how long time does it usually take for the traffic to reappear?

Then there might be issue if you don't have installed SSL installed previously. So, when you change to SSL, then you might lose all backlinks and you have to create the links from scratch with your https version.

In other words, I should most likely remove the https and go back to http?
Honestly, I thought that sinde there is a redirect between HTTP to HTTPS, the linkjuice would NOT go to
Waste, but be carried over to the HTTPS vs?

All things equal, the Certificate Authority of your SSL will not affect your SEO. Things to consider, other than SEO, are the Certificate Warranty terms, the duration of certificate validity, as well as the type of validation (domain, business, extended, etc) the certificate will provide.

While these do not affect SEO, to the best of my knowledge, they can affect user-perception of site (ex. Extended Validation certification vs. Domain Validation, whereby the former will receive the pronounced Green Bar with company name in the address bar).

Thank you both for your comments. I have been studying the web over the last 2 days, and I am not sure I understand this affection towards making the switch to https at all cost. Saying that, I am arguing against my own action - which is a bit ironic:-/.

    Here's my dilemma
    1. Site went from roughly 200 hits a day and down to 0 hits a day.
    2. There are no transactions done on the page or exchange of information for that matter. Another argument for not making the switch to https.
    3. If all backlinks are "dead" and the juice are not being transferred to the https, then it seems like to huge a blow.

I have done a site audit (semrush), and am fixing what I can - and thereby keeping https for at least another month. If the traffic still=0 in a month, then its just not meant for this site.
Question I have: What arguments am I missing here? Will the site regain past pride in terms of traffic, as google begins to crawl the https version? And if so, to which extent?

    Comments are very welcomed. Thanks.

    Some of my comment:
    1. You dont need to pay for SSL, you can use either Cloudflare or Let's encrypt.
    2. I don't think changing your SSL provider affect your SEO. But if you let the SSL expired, or move back to http, that's will be a huge problem.

Sorry but I don't see you mention about wildcard 301 redirect from http to https. May be that's the missing piece.

Check if your site has been banned or deindexed from Google, when you're facing these problem, the traffic is dropped suddenly.
