    pagerank is based on links

it shouldnt hurt your page rank unless the people linking to you hate your new design and de-link you (even though you shouldnt be worrying about your pagerank anyways)

i think you would need to do a 301 redirect to get all the juice.

Main page should be not touched, but it's difficult to say what happens with inner sites. PR2 is not to much, so they can get probably it with the firs update, without any difficulty.

If only the design were to be changed, the PR will not be affected. Assuming the new site still reside in the old domain name :)

it will not change because page rank is only related with your backlinks. it's not related your site designor theme

Additionally, don't forget about your internal links. Make all of your pages pointing at the main page.

Try to retain URL's of pages with good rank. Also after your design start using if your not already the google site maps tool. This will help get things re-indexed properly for your deep content. Google prefers well coded sites so converting to wordpress will help your rank in short/long term.

After your design is done do a press release to announce it. Prfree.com or prweb.com

thats wat i had said earlier, if he wants all the juice he would need to do a 301 redirect to the new domain.

Shouldn't lose any pageRank, but I would suggest keeping your meta tags in tact or you may lose natural ranking.

I converted my oldest site from basic html pages to Joomla. I had the same concern. I am glad I did it the site maintained the same PR and all the internal pages are showing pr2. It could be a fluke. I have not promoted the inner pages or went out and got backlinks.
