Changing Server Creates any problem?

    Hi Friends

I'm working for a site which has 1,027 back links and a PR of 5, and the site is ranked for most of the keywords. Now my client planned to shift the domain to another server i.e totally different IP location.

My question is, if we change the server it affect the current SEO ranking and loss of back links and the PR ?

Should i take any precautionary steps to save the PR and Back links?

It won't affect the website status. Because ranking depends on quality site and quality back links.

Meh, not unless the site is hosted on a server in a completely different country. I am not even sure I have the metrics to qualify that but you should be fine.

    hope that helps,
    Nigel

Its only affects if your site faces
    considerable website down time
Not fixed 404 errors while moving
Change of region ( May affect with SERP of particular Region)

Just chill.. You wont loose your rankings at all. One thing to make sure is that your website should not be down for long period when shifting to new server. If google crawls your site during that time than you might notice a temporary dip in your rankings... but when it crawls again it would be back to original position most of the times.

It takes you some time to switch from server to server. During this time, you could loss some visitors.
If you keep doing this on a regular base, visitors to your site from search engines will often end up in Error pages. Search engines conclude that your site is not easily assessible or even don't exist at all.
    It will harm your site.
So, just cut down the frequency you change your server.

no. a server move usually does not affect rankings in any way. there are, however, a few things to pay attention to:

    1) speed. if your new server turns out to be much slower than the old one, it might affect rankings.
    2) neighborhood. if it's not dedicated and there are suspicious domains being hosted on the same physical IP, you might get in big trouble.

As addressed by @Torafox, i want to add some points over., beware of neighborhood domains which are already hosted and have look at the IP whether it is blacklisted or not?
    2. If your client is shifting your site to a complete new location (Country) then it effects your rankings for sure..,

There are no more attention required apart from this upto my knowledge...
