Changing meta tags for an existing site.

I wrote a post earlier asking of the importance of meta tags to a "new" site and I got great responses. But my site actually is not new. It is allready listed very well on Yahoo and MSN (right at the top for almost all relevent keywords).

My delima is that I lost all my files to this website (when my computor crashed and I did not have a back up disk). Now that I need to update the site I basiacally have to copy and paste every item onto my web design software before I can once again upload changes onto my web site. I did use meta tags orignally and apparently they worked very well on Yahoo and MSN... but I don't remember what keywords and descriptions I used on those tags (the wesite has over 50 pages). So I am just worried that if I change the tags it will affect my allready great rankings on the search engines. Is this possible? Is it possible to find out the tag details for my site now so I can duplicate them with my updated site? And yes I am a newbie so sorry if these questions seem obvious.

why don't you just download the pages that you currently have on the web and edit those?

    Hey OS,

To see the meta-tags used just view the source (View Menu> Source - within your browser) for each page one the site.

A quicker way would be to download the site from your hosting server using a FTP program or possibly a backup utility included in your hosting control panel.

If you need help making a backup to store on your local pc please let us know. We would be happy to assist for a very reasonable fee to create and provide a backup for your site.

If interested please send site address via PM and we will provide a cost to do so.
