Changing IP without changing the domain

    Hi,

I have a website 2.5 years old with PR 4, which contains a message board.
I have changed the website design and rewrote its code so that the old messages will be seen with the new design. I have two questions:
I want to transfer my website to a new hosting provider and as a result my ip address will be changed whereas the domain will be the same. Is that will affect my position in Google results?
The second question is what should I do so that users, who find my ads in Google, will click on the result in Google and will be directed to the ad on my website in its updated ip address?

    Thanks in advance

We switched a site from a client from one host to the next. The only change that we saw was a temporary drop in PR which lasted about a month.

If you keep the same URL structure and domain name you should seen any changes. This is assuming the IP address change will stay in the same geographical area. Now, if your moving from a US hosting company to say a Canadian hosting company you may see an effect on your search results. As for the search results as long as the domain and URLs don't change they will still go to your new site. Thats the whole concept of a hostname and dns servers; they point a specific hostname to the correct IP address.
