I submitted my site to multiple directories using different methods. Now I have changed my domain and no longer own the old one, so the links will all be dead for a while before probably going to the next owner's site. Is there anything I can do about this or do the directories get rid of dead links automatically?
the directory script usually scan for dead link url. So it is fine. or you may email the directory owners.
This is a tough question. When you sell a website or a domain, one of its assets is the inbound links that site has. As you did all the work in building these directory links, you probably don't want the sites new owner from benefiting. Perhaps in future when you sell a site or domain you will bear this in mind and will perhaps let it reflect in the sale price.
what you can do is contact the owner for changing the listing information. some directories you might have an account when you submit the site, so you can change what you want...
I didn't sell the domain. I just didn't renew it. As far as I know it doesn't have a new owner yet. I am continuing my work on my new domain. I don't think my old domain will hurt my new one, but I don't want to be responsible for a load of dead links on the Internet.
