Changing Hosts - Will it affect me in the SE's?

Im about to move all my sites from one reseller to another.
Will this change have an effect on my rankings, page rank and/or indexed pages in the search engines during and after the DNS & host changes are taking effect?

As long as the downtime is minimal, it should not have any effect. I just moved one of my sites (over 130k pages indexed) to a new host a week ago, and I didnt notice any change so far.

I didnt see any impact here's few things:

    1. Change name servers while still being under old host.
    2. Copy all files and databases to new host and set them up before you change name servers.

When you do following things, the downtime will be almost non existant.

ok thanks guys. Hopefully things will go smoothly

Another question (unrelated to SEO, maybe i should post this in the domain forum) - my registrar is rather sneaky and has all domains "registrar locked".
Now Im wanting to transfer all of my domains with my original registrar over to GoDaddy which is cheaper and do not lock their domains.

Do I have no hope due to the fact that all my domains are locked with the existing registrar?
Ive already processed a request with godaddy for transfers and they quoted me the cost but the process has failed due to the domains being locked (I dont know if godaddy has still charged me...)

Im afraid of losing my domains since 1 is expiring in 6 days time and I want to renew it through godaddy, but cant transfer a "locked" domain :(

Is there anything i can do?

Where are they registered now? godaddy also have the register-lock option, but it is under your controll. Maybe you can go into your current controll panel and unlock the domains yourself.

Nope cant do that, apparently i cant unlock the domains myself!

I cant get in contact with anyone at the current hosting/register company to do this (time is ticking down on my domains expiring....)

Its currently registered through a company who resells though Enom.
Ive been to the enom site however they said that only my registrar can unlock the domains....

grrrr........ this is why i like godaddy, at least they trust us to control the locking/unlocking of our domains! :/

The location of the host servers can affect your rankings. You can check the Geotargeting Tool here on DP to see where the servers are located.

That kinda scares me, as I recently moved off Dreamhost to Liquidweb. Would you mind elaborating how server location can affect your rankings?
