Hey everyone, My question is, how it will effect my main website, if our company changes the hosting for mini-sites that link to our main project? We have several mini websites that offer valuable, unique content for visitors, which are situated now on same IP address. We would like to split them into minor groups (every group representing a geo-location) and host them on other servers, each of them targeting the same geo-localization. (For ex. we have a mini-site that offers information for hungarians, but now it is hosted in Germany, but we would like to take it to Hungary, to have a better geo-localization for the website). If the mini-sites are linked to the main site, could it harm the main website? Kind Regards, KI
Hi.. First let me take mini-site hosting and their rankings: As far as your website will not be down for long time, it wont affect rankings (here in your case you are shifting to targeted geo-location, it may affect positively). Now, 2nd point If your motive behind mini-sites is just to generate back links for your main site then i wont recommend keeping them on same ip. Links from multiple website having same IP can be tracked by search engine. Here i recommend hosting theme on different C-class IP. Feel free to contact me incase if you still need any help.
