That is true. However, it might harm your seo as all your backlinks point to the redirected domain. I would just play it safe ;)

Correct me if i'm wrong but since i'm on blogger (blogspot) they will take care of the 301 redirection, i'll just have add the domain on my dashboard and put google dns on my registrar site. right?
Just guessing, i never bought a .com before.

The best way to migrate domains is such:
    1. Create a sitemap for your old site.
    2. Create a similar site map that redirects all your old urls to new urls
    3. Make sure the new blog is production ready.
    4. 301 Redirect the old blog urls to the new blog. Most times this can be done in excel just by replacing the main domain (youroldsite.com) with the new domain (yournewsite.com). So for instance, you would have (youroldsite.com/post-1) redirected to (yournewsite.com/post-1). Google will catch on that you have migrated your site and start to rank your new site at that point.
Another way if you do not want to lose rankings immediately is to use a 302 redirect and then switch to a 301 after your new website starts to get ranked in the SERPs. However both ways will do the trick, just expect a slight dip in traffic during the switch.
BEFORE YOU MIGRATE THOUGH, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR REDIRECTS READY TO BE IMPLEMENTED!
If you need more info here is an article all about migrating domains:http://moz.com/blog/seo-guide-how-to-properly-move-domains
Hope this helps with the migration!

I don't think you can do any of that in blogger. (upload sitemap or make 301 redirects)
I'm not leaving blogger, just getting a .com for it.

Well that might affect you dramatically then if you cannot redirect old URLs to new URLs.

I think google does that automatically when you add the new domain on bogger dashboard.
I don't know for how long the old .blogspot will redirect to the .com though.

I am not positive how blogger works specifically, but since it is run by Google I am sure they have some tool you can use to accomplish what you are looking to do.

    Thanks.
I will change to a .com ASAP.
Even if i lose traffic at the beginning, they'll find me eventually.
If i ever leave blogger i get to keep my domain, so my site will live forever MUAHAHHAA!!
j/k :p but you get the point.

PS: the only reason i love blogger so much is that everything i post gets indexed on google instantly and i'm always on 1st page of results
I once had a site hosted and only 10% of the site was found on google, in like page 34.
