If you were to change your domain name,
what is the best practice in terms of transfering the incoming traffic over.

We are talking about organic search traffic.

Is 301 on every page going to it's corresponding page on the new page be valued by the search engines?

Am I going to loose the PR on the old ones?
Am I going to gain the PR on the new one?

Really... how DO you do that?

you should use 301, but you could lose both PR and traffic
it's pretty hard to relocate big sites...you could even get into duplicate content troubles, it happened to me.

301 redirection is always a good option. you will loose your pr from new domain. but 301 helps you not to waste some traffic. you cant get penalize for duplicated if you use to redirect or old from your current. =)
