i have a site that is pr3. its been alive since 2008. Its my best money making site.
although it dose not have lots of backlinks, its pretty successful.

the problem is that the domain dose not have any keywords in it.
    this really hurt my seo.

so i bought a much better keywords optimized domain from someone.its registered since 2004, but it was always just a parked domain. no content or backlinks.

now, i redirected the main page to the new domain. the question i have is, how is google going to respond to that ?
will i gain my authority and trust again? what about PR ?
would it have any negative effects ?

that crucial for me, so your input would be appreciated !

    thanks.

You wll probably experience an initial dip in rankings etc but this sould rcover quickly as long as your backlinks etc remain and your normal visitors/day doesnt drop

Yes, your rankings will drop, and you should build new backlinks

If the site is ranking now, don`t do those changes cause it will lose the rank. You can work on On-Page SEO for the existing pages and articles. Having the keywords in your domain name and URLs is a major plus, but you can be ranking well without them too.

Maybe wait to make the move and have the new domain redirect to the old one in the mean time.

    thanks for the comment guys.
building links is no problem for me, but what about my authority and trust? would it drop aswell ?
the reason i ask this, is because i want to build aggressive links. i know i can do this for the old domain. it got trust since its 3 years old.
but would i be able to do this for the new one ? its 7 years old but never had any links to or ant content.
would i be able to go aggressive on that one ?

    thanks alot !

Actually no. I have transferred several websites to another URL's without suffering ranking problems. Here is what you should do:

    1. Set up a new server for your new domain and transfer entire content from your old website to your new server.
    2. Add your new domain to your Webmaster Tools account. Both of your domains must be in your Webmaster Tools account
    3. On your old server set up 301 permanent redirects to every page of your new website. IMPORTANT: Don't just redirect your old domain to a new one as it will be 302 redirect. It's VERY important to establish 301 redirects for every page of your old website to every page of your new domain! If you have a lot of pages, hire someone to do this for you.
    4. Log in to your Webmaster Tools account and notify Google about domain transfer.
    5. Keep your old domain and leave 301 redirects on your old domain server for at least 6 months (or indefinitely if you have many backlinks).

You will not see any change in your SERPs, and your PageRank will be transfered within 6 months period to a new website.

    Regards,
