Changing domain....consequences for traffic/SEO?

I'm looking to rebrand one of my sites and set up a redirect to a new domain.

The existing site doesn't generate a huge amount of traffic but is indexed and I want to preserve any benefit it does have.

What are the consequences for changing domain?

The site change wont take full effect for a week or two. The biggest consequence is if your site has a lot of supplemental page backlinks - they will all be "broken" (pointing to a 404, of course).

Using a 301 redirect, though, you'll maintain the same credit/integrity as the old site, including the page rank (if PR still exists?!)

yeah the 301 is the way to go. are you keeping the same url structure? If so you could redirect the entire domain. I have done that in the past.
