I am a complete noob when it comes to using Photoshop :)

Is there any easy way to simply change the background color of a jpg image?

Get a new canvas the same size as your image with the background the coulour that you want it to be.

Use a tool suitable to select the image itself. Depending on the image you may be able to use the smart select tool or you may have to use the path selection tool and then change this into a selection.

Then just cut and paste to the new background.

    There's also good tutorial here,

Save the image as a PNG or GIF. I don't believe JPEG works with this procedure.
So you could open the file in photoshop and then right after that save it as PNG or GIF.
Or take a screenshot of it and make sure when taking the screenshot the screenshot aplication saves it as GIF or PNG.
    Then...

    • Open the file in PS (photoshop).
    • Double click on the layer in the layers palette on the right hand side of the
    • screen by default.
    • Click OK on the box that comes up.
    • Grab the magic wand tool and click on the white background.
    • Hit Delete on your keyboard.
    • Hit Ctrl + D on your keyboard.
    • Hit Ctrl + Shift + S on your keyboard and select CompuServe (*.gif) in the File Type dropdown.
    • And select where you want your image to be saved.

Note: Delete is the ''Del'' button on the far right hand side of your keyboard in the corner.

Also this technique worked most of the times for me but it does happen the edges still needs some work done.
What you can do is to zoom in at pixel level and use the pen tool to circle the parts you want removed.
Then do the process described again starting from step 6.

    Good luck!

Use the path selection tool, the one that looks like a pen nib to click around the outline of the image. Then you just need to change the path to a selection in order to be able to cut it from the background.

Yep cool. Once I have the selected image onto the new background, how do you view the image in pixel view to do minor color edits around the border?

Just zoom right in and either change the colour of the pixels individually or use the colour dodge tool :)

    Shitz, i misread your post.
    Sorry Man!
Oh well next time you need to make a background transparent you know what to do

Some additional steps you could do to get the result you're after:

Open up PS and Click on the icon as shown in the red circle in screenshot 1 and choose your color.

    Screenshot 1:

Then click file -> and new and make sure the settings are set as in the second screenshot. The size of the canvas is of course up to you.

    Screenshot 2:

Open up your image by selecting file -> open

As you can see there are now two windows on your work space.
Now follow the steps to make the background transparent. Click on the window of your image and then...

Once you have done this you can drag the transparent object to your colored canvas.

Click on the move object icon as seen in the red circle in screenshot three.

Now click on the image you want to drag and drag it above to the second window and drop it in there

Make the canvas the size you want and save the image
    And you're done :)
Save the image how you want it to be saved.

Sorry man, i just woke up.

To resolve the background problem with Paint you have to know that it supports only BMP, JPEG and GIF formats. After choosing the photo, follow this guide:

    1. Open the application and select “Open” under “File” and browse to the picture. Also, you can right click on it and select Paint under “Open with”.
    2. If the image is too large for your screen, adjust its zooming options by dragging the slider from the bottom right side until the picture fits.
    3. Go to the color palette, which is usually set in the top of the screen, and select the lime color as color 1 and color 2.
    4. Next, select the polygon tool and begin to outline the subject which has to be cut off from the picture. Do this around the image and back to the starting point until the subject of interest is outlined.
    5. When finished, click on the “Fill” tool, choose the solid option and the whole background will transform to a lime one. After, the color can be changed with the same tool, just select the preferred color and fill the lime background with it.
    6. To overlap it to another picture, make the background white and press CTRL+A to select the whole picture.
    7. Copy it (CTRL+C) and open in Paint the other picture which will represent the background.
    8. Paste it (CTRL+P) and go to the selection options, which can be found in the Image subcategory from the main menu, where you have to select “Transparent selection”.
    9. Resize it and move it around the picture until the desired photo will be obtained.
    10. Save it and enjoy.
Unfortunately, this method may seem a little bit complicated, but it has the big advantage that the program is available for free for all Windows users and no other additional fees have to be supported

You just need to know about Pen Tool to select the background without object. If you don't worry about perfection then choose the other selection tools such as
Marquee Tool to select your background as possible, then past your appropriate color. Check some tutorials from YouTube..
