Hi everyone I have a site that gets great traffic, and I have my Adsense in the best spot available and get a great click through. The problem is, the CPC is less than 10 cents! So, what I wouldn't mind doing is trying to change the ads that are showing on my site to something a bit more targetted and that will have a higher CPC. Example (hypothetical): My site does PC Cheats. At the moment I show very generic PC ads and get 10 cents a click. BUT, if I were to target the ads to something like "PC Stores" and say that has a CPC of $1.00 - obviously that would better. The problem is, I cant really changed any of the words displayed on my site to say "PC Store" or similar, because the site is mainly about PC Cheats. What would you suggest?
Google wants to display ads that are linked to your web page content. If you want different ads then you have to change content. If you dont want to change content then you can emphasise the parts of your existing content that you want adsense to pick up on. Emphasise by using <h1> <B> and inserting key words. But this will also change SERP rankings. if you want ads about 'PC Stores', why dont you add a section on your site about pc stores. also, dont assume clicks for pc stores are worth any more than what you are getting at the moment...
I agree with mistermix, it's usually pointless to try to mess around with existing content to get better paying ads. Add additional new content for that purpose.
I had the exact same problem with my gaming site. I fixed it with links to PC Hardware sites (not shops) and other gaming sites. Make sure the anchor texts and href titles are keyword rich. Also use section targeting to increase/decrease the weighting of various parts of your site. I wrote a thread about it.
