Changing ad layout: how long it takes CTR to settle?

    Hi everybody!

I'm not too sure the phenomenon actually takes place on every site, but my experience has been so far that upon changing ad layout the CTR goes way down no matter what you do. It looks like first response to any layout change is usually negative on my sites. Then it sort of levels on a particular CTR, sometimes good sometimes bad. This issue really slows down any layout optimization because you have to wait few days until you can actually see what the real result is.

Do you experience anything like that? How long do you normally give it until you judge the particular layout's performance?

    Any feedback is appreciated.

    Cheers!

I find that making too many layout changes can cause not only CTR to drop, but page impressions, too. Regular readers like consistency.

I reckon waiting about a week to see the real results is a good time frame.

    hi

Noticed this as well when I made Adsense changes on my site. Ironic - I changed things to improve my earnings and instead they bottomed out :) It took 2-3 weeks, in my case, for things to return to pre-change stats.
