I use blogger to host a blog about my applications. The url is currently http://meccaapps.blogspot.com (very long!). I am looking at getting a cu.cc, co.nr, or usa.cc subdomain and eventually a real domain. I was wondering if I change the .blogspot address to a real domain or a shorter sub domain would Google recognize the backlinks to my old url as ones for the new url?

No I don't think Google will recognize the new url as your old one. Don't change the url of the site unless you think it is absolutely necessary. I think a .blogspot.com domain is fine so you shouldn't worry that much about it.

Also, here is a quite informative link about url changing and seo impacts: http://www.searchenginepeople.com/blog/can-you-avoid-losing-google-rankings-when-moving-your-site-to-a-new-domain.html

I can confirm with Hama that the links will not carry over.
