Changing a bunch of Anchor Texts for a site at once....

I am wondering if anybody can help me out. Let's use DP as an example....I have been building links with certain anchor texts for awhile now and have been pretty successful. But now I am finding that I am getting up there in SERPS for a really juicy keyword(not sure why) that I didn't think I could ever touch and am wondering if I changed my signature to have the anchor text of this new keyword if it would be A)Highly effective.....B)not effective.....C)a bad decision

I guess what I am trying to determine is would I get penalized because it is not natural?

Thanks in advance for the help!

How are you doing with the key phrases you have in here?

Edit: Forum signatures do no carry much weight. You are sharing the juice with so many other signatures that will flood this post here.

I don't think you would get penalized unless a large percentage of your backlinks changed link anchor text. At the same time, I think it would take a while to see any kind of effect from that change. You would be better off to keep your forum signatures as is but start targeting that new keyword through other means such as article submissions and blog commenting.

as blogaboutnothin said Forum links are not much worth it. maybe your site name has the keyword in it. if that is the case when people link to your site even with your site name it automatically turns out to be a anchor text link
