jhmattern thanks for your kind reply . I will try my best to not to do such things and i will make clean and quality posts only . Yes i will write in thread in future that reply with thread title than also you will get responses fast . Thanks .
Thanks for banning the affiliate links in PMs. People were really garbaging the freebies section with those.
At last!!! No more affiliate links in PMS!!! That is one of the best things you have implemented so far! I am quite sure that you have one of the biggest database of the world in DP, and just those threads alone will account at least 25% of all the threads in here. Out of those 25% maybe at least 1% are actually legit links... and not affiliates, the rest of the 99% of that 25% is pure affiliation stuff. So a big bravo mods! Honestly! To make this process more effective, can this not be implemented that whoever (members) enters the BuySellTrade part of the forum from now on for the first time starting from today, till the end of this week, will see a pop up message (like the PM system) in front of their screen with this particular message? That way everyone will actually read it and know about it. I know it is the posters duty to read the stickys/rule first but this cannot harm anyone right? Whoever sees it once wont have to see it again of course with the "cookie ishtyle popup". Or, even a new kind of custom smiley/message icon can be assigned to the sticky when it changes, and that icon can only be used by you peeps (mods/admins), that way people will actually be more informed and stuff. Just an opinion
I do believe threads are not reported because members fear of the moderation team after reading a few posts under this category in which they express like feeling at risk to be sanctioned by them. I fully understand your position because I was myself a moderator and admin of huge hosting forums and forum management is pretty hard. This forum is not just the same, problems must be bigger because of the variety of categories offered to members and here is the point that any DP member must keep in mind because moderation is not an easy job and it is usually unpaid. As a member of this forum, I do understand you fellow members and that fear when it comes to mistakenly post a thread or do any action that may bring an infraction or closed thread is a natural thing, but I believe if we, moderators and members alike work with rules in hand we will not longer need open threads like this. We can report threads fellow members, but before doing so, make sure to read the ongoing rules. Rules are not made to be broken and rules are not made to stay unmovable either. The staff has to adequate them as needed. You may not be a scammer, but if you are simply posting "pm for further details" because others are doing the same, try then to improve yourself finding changes on rules first and using your creativity to attract potential buyers or people for hiring. I'm a new member here and in about 40 days I don't know everything, I have been reading FAQs, rules and old threads to learn more on DP. This reading took me back to a moment in which the main admin simply decided to stay away from this. I ignore his reason as probably many of you, but I respect them. The fact that you can't see him doesn't mean that he is not aware all of what is happening here and that might be his reason deciding to make of respectable members a new moderating team. Fellow members, you can rest assured because I can guarantee you every forum administrator on the Internet is always watching over backtage, but do not expect Shawn comes to solve each one's problems because that is not humanly possible, otherwise he would do it because all what we do online is part of our own beings. Both of you moderators and members may agree or disagree with me but I believe this food for tought is something I could share with a community I'm learning to love and care
Nah, they're not 'not complaining' because they're afraid. Believe me, if they want to complain about rules, infractions, etc., they usually do it quite loudly. We've had a few, but not as many as I expected so far. We may see more complaints when we start giving infractions for the new threads. Or perhaps *crossing my fingers* people are actually reading the announcement!
Hopefully they are and I will keep my fingers crossed. It was a nice surprise find many of those affiliate-related pm requests closed and after this I believe will refrain to continue doing it until rules "rule" among us, LOL
I paid a visit to the B/S/T forum a few minutes ago and looks like you are right, in addition to members now posting their affiliate links and "pm me" under Affiliate Programs and all of its categories
Mod's Two quick questions for you'll 1. I paid someone for product - he/she does not deliver and not responding to my PM's then i would like to share my experience about him/her with other members by posting in his/her thread. Am not going against any rule -am I? 2. If i like a service given to me by a fellow forum mate and i post my experience of using their service n getting good results. Is this also a part of not allowed things henceforth ? Ace
1. If you actually participated in a deal resulting from that specific thread, you're allowed to leave feedback. But you're not allowed to attack them. If you leave feedback in an unrelated thread, that would be hijacking. 2. Same here... if it's related to the thread, you're allowed to leave feedback. However, simply saying "great service, thanks" or something similar is not allowed - that would be considered a post with no value. If you want to leave feedback, make it something substantial so it actually adds value to other users.
OFF TOPIC BST SUGESTION - Search the "Sites" subforum for the word "proxy". There is around 25 proxy listings each day, and given there may be around 35-75 listings made a day at a guess, I feel there is sufficient demand for a proxy sub forum. In fact I have recently stopped visiting that forum daily as its so clogged up with proxy sales.
That's not a bad idea, I too am tired of seeing these proxy sales. Although, with that said, it's just the latest easy traffic craze, I think over time if it was split up into website niche categories - there would be a hell of a lot of sub forums. One thing I would suggest, which has probably been suggested a million times, is splitting it up into WTB / WTS sub forums. I think people visit "Sites" in BST to either buy OR sell, seldom both. It's often a pain viewing all the WTB threads, when you too are looking to buy.
I do agree with you and remember that many proxy sites are often breaking Adsense rules, providing warez links or associated to other irregularities, sort of those dealing with rapidshare accounts, VCC's, social bookmark exhange, etc, might these issues affect DP's reputation or rules negatively?
Keep it on topic please. This new rule is going to sink so much time from mods right now I couldnt even imagine changing something for awhile.
