Wait 3 months and compare again.
    The results need to "settle".

Well, the new title description is showing up in google now. But my site's hit's has steadily dropped the last 4 days since I changed the title 6 days ago. Like I said, the first two days when I changed the title descript were the best I ever had until it started dropping...it's now below levels I'm used to expecting...and I picked a much better title descript too... Very disappointing so far..

Is it supposed to drop like that...even BELOW previous traffic levels?

If it were me, I'd drop all mention of Google in your title and meta tags and refine my title to perhaps: <title>The Daily Show : Jon Stewart Video Clips</title>

I'll take your advice. Thanks! Do you think that's what's effecting my traffic or does Google just object to their name in titles? Or possibly both?

"Google Search" is one hell of a key word phrase, though.

Well, first of all you could never hope to compete with Google herself; secondly, you would want to use a concise title with as few stop words and/or any keywords having little, or nothing to do with your site's topic.

Search Google with this -- related:www.thedailysearch.com/

The results provide a small window into how Google associates your site with various entities. For optimal positioning, you would want to acquire text inbounds for your target industry (such as Jon Stewart videos, etc.) from other sites related to entertainment, and/or optimized for Jon Stewart.

From my personal experience, if you change the title it will take some time, before your position in SERPs settle down.
Also title tag is the one which google uses to link to your site. So if your title tag is not an intersting one people might not click on it even if it is ranking well.

Thanks for the replies seo, baby and kaudo.

By the way, is it recommended I keep my site's name - thedailysearch.com - in the title? I'm changing it right now.

So it looks like : my site's url - The Daily Show : Jon Stewart Video Clips

    ????

Title changes can get your site stirring the SERPs. I've noticed it with some of my sites. If you change your title after a very long time, it has the most affect on rankings, then the change subsides.

I'm starting to notice that too. The same day I took SEO's advice and altered my title descript, my traffic shot up again.

Hey Mike, I just noticed a question you'd asked -- guess I missed it; sorry. There's really no need to put the domain name in the title; you're #1 for it anyway.

Here's how I would revise the title and meta tags:

<title>The Daily Show : Jon Stewart Video Clips</title>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
<meta name="description" content="Find videos from all your favorite Daily Show correspondents like Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Jason Jones, Samantha Bee, Ed Helms and more Daily Show TV favorites" />
<meta name="keywords" content="the daily show with jon stewart, the daily show, daily show, jon stewart, comedy central, stephen colbert, the colbert report, video news, video, feed, late nite, conan o'brien, jay leno, south park, tv, funny news, funny vid, funny clips, funny stuff, funny tv news clips, news clips, search engine, the daily search, the dailysearch.com, John Hodgman, Jon Oliver, Rob Cordry Dan Bakkedahl, Demitri Martin, Steve Carell" />
    Code (markup):
And by the way, you are associated with other sites:
related:www.thedailysearch.com -- just probably not the ones you'd like to be. Your task is to now associate your site with its particular industry by cultivating inbounds from similar websites (or types).

You'll have to excuse me now; got to get back to your site and another Jon Stewart video! :D
