Hi, I (NOW) understand that the name of an URL is an important factor. How important? We run a summer English course for non-native English learners, however the web page is the name of the company: www.movingoncourses.com - I assume we need a site that has a more descriptive name. Should we have a second similar site or completely change site name and wait to recover ranking? On a similar note; is it a good idea to have seperate web pages for different aspects of your business? All comments appreciated, I hope to learn enough to contribute in the future
It's helpful to have keywords in the URL, but not necessary. I'd rather stick with a URL that my clients will remember and relates to my site. Pages titles are another matter. Be sure that your page titles include keywords relevant to the page they represent, not site wide. Just don't over do it when adding the keywords, they consider it spam.
Another Point. Do not create another site that is a duplicate, or is just a doorway to the original site. Google will penalize your site, considering this as spam.
